When the pinnacle of automotive engineering meets the peak contemporary of haute horlogerie, it can only result in excellence. And yes, the Excalibur Aventador S is truly an excellent feat of watchmaking and design.

The limited edition Excalibur Aventador S watch is the result of a partnership between Italian luxury supercar manufacturer Lamborghini and high-end Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis. Together the companies designed two watches that reflect the extravagant, yet fluid design of Lamborghini, and also incorporates the very technical horological style that is quintessentially Roger Dubuis.

The collection

One watch features the eye-catching Lamborghini “Arancio Argos” or orange colour. This watch is limited to only 8 models. The second features detailing in the automaker’s iconic “Giallo Orion” yellow. This model is limited to 88 watches.

At first glance the biggest difference between the two timepieces is the livery. However, a deeper look at the timepieces reveals more intricate differences:

Excalibur Aventador S Arancio Argos

The watchmaker says the greatest challenge in the collaboration was using materials used in Lamborghini cars to create a watch that had a sophisticated, yet sporty look.

To that, the Arancio Argos, or orange-liveried watch, sports C-SMC carbon. This is a composite material based on the same technology used in Lamborghini cars. The watch’s multi-layerd carbon case measures at 45 millimetres, and features a skeletonized Excalibur Spider case and fluted C-SMC carbon bezel with orange markings.

The watch is only 14,05 millimetres thick and has bi-material strap with black rubber base, black Alcantara inlay and orange stiching. Alcantara is a microfibre material that is light and comfortable to wear. It is also water resistant to 5 BAR (50 metres).

Other features include:

  • Skeleton double sprung balances,
  • hand-wound mechanical calibre with double sprung balances finely adjusted in six positions,
  • a power reserve indicator,
  • the Poinçon de Genève – or Geneva Seal – certified finishings, 4
  • 8 jewels, and

The stiching on this model is the same Giallo Orion orange as the details on the bezel and face. This model is also water resistant to 5 BAR (50 metres).
