When you need to remove a picture or fitting attached to the wall with heavy duty double-sided tape, don’t risk damage to the picture (or wall) by attempting to slice through the tape with a knife. Instead, use a length of fine wire or nylon fishing line with a sawing motion, starting at one corner and working your way around.
