Timer switch
Date:31 December 2007 Tags:

At a cost of R223 and 1 hour’s labour by an electrician, I recently had a timer switch installed to control the hot water cylinder at home (there are three of us in the house). I have set it to switch on from 5 am to 6 am, and again from 5 pm to 6 pm – that’s just two hours a day, resulting in an estimated saving of about 85 hours of running time a month. I expect to recover my costs within two months, and at the same time I’m doing my bit for the environment.
