Your Saturday Mechanic article on curing a squeaky suspension (December issue) reminded me of a problem I had with a squeaking ball joint on a Volvo many years ago. My quick, easy and very effective cure was to fill a syringe with heavy oil and inject it through the boot into the offending joint. The puncture in the boot allows excess oil to drain off, and is too small to allow the ingress of dirt.
