• Do it your way: Pool pump selector valve, belt up

    Date:14 July 2016 Tags:

We were spending a lazy December at our family holiday home on the South Coast when we needed to replace the pool pump selector valve due to a severe leak. We had no tools other than a braai tongs and a bottle opener. So, we used a nifty belt trick to tighten and loosen the large-diameter plastic plumbing fittings. Simply take a sturdy leather belt, wrap it around the fitting with the buckle facing inwards, and use the remainder of the belt as a lever to loosen or tighten the fittings.
