You’re buying a wonderful thing – a thing that will bring you and your family joy (interspersed with occasional consternation but, hopefully, mostly joy), safe passage, and a comfortable ride on those days you just feel like driving. At base, the car is a possession, sure. A means to accommodate a fundamental need. But it can also be an opportunity to express who you are. And to show up your neighbour.
