National: Heritage Day

Heritage day is the day when South Africans celebrate their history, culture and traditions. In recent years Heritage Day has been unofficially dubbed National Braai Day, because South Africans enjoy nothing more than a good bar.

Durban: Celebrate Heritage month at uShaka Marine World


To celebrate Heritage mont,  uShaka Marine World has been hosting a variety of activities to “embrace the variety of cultures that make up our South African heritage”. This weekend marks the last weekend in Heritage month, so if you’re in the area, stop by uShaka for a marine take on Heritage celebrations.

To celebrate South African heritage, Franschhoek wineries will once again open their doors for the annual Uncorked Festival.

George: Strawberry Festival


Hosted at the Redberry Farm in George, the festival brings you a farmer’s market, live performances, sports events, wine pairings, many activities for children, a live screening of the rugby and – of course – strawberries. The strawberry activities include: strawberry picking, a strawberry eating competition, a strawberry emporium with all kinds of eats and a strawberry maze.

Johannesburg: Taste of Joburg


Taste of Joburg is an annual restaurant festival that celebrates seasonal culinary delights. Hosted at Montecasino, 12 of Joburg’s top restaurants will serve tasting dishes to showcase their menus. But the festival is not all about restaurants: a variety of exhibitors will showcase their products.

Upington: Kalahari Kuier Festival


At the annual Kalahari Kuier Festival held at The Island Resort in Upington you can expect fun for the entire family. The festival will host two competitions, including a Kuier Festival Baby competition. There will be theatre, live performances by local musicians, a street carnival and many food and craft stalls.
