Grabbing objects in the absence of gravity is difficult, even more so because the lightest touch could send any object reeling in the opposite direction. Researchers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory have started developing gripping systems inspired by the microscopic hairs on the bottom of gecko feet.
