In an effort to understand the impact of climate change the European Space Agency (ESA) launched the Climate Change Initiative. Over the last decade the ESA’s Global Climate Observing System have used observations from space as well as data validation to aid the understanding and management of climate change.
In the video above prof. Stein Sandven, from the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center in Norway, explains the importance of sea ice as an indicator of climate change.
