Pictured is the Finsbury Park Reservoir as captured by architectural photographer Matt Emmett. The photograph was recently chosen as the best architecture photograph of the year in the Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards.
The Finsbury Park Reservoir was designed by the East London Waterworks Company in 1868. At the time it was named the Hornsey Wood Reservoir and was built to hold almost 19 million litres of water and might just be one of the largest reservoirs in the world. Sadly the reservoir was decommissioned in the 20th century.
