  1. The Science Magazine podcast

Every week Science Magazine looks at specific topics related to recent discoveries in the field of science as well as science news from the week. Although the show is a little more on the serious side, the podcast is incredibly interesting, topics are thoroughly explained and worth a listen. The podcast is published every Thursday.

  1. Wired’s Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy Podcast

This science fiction and fantasy podcast focuses mainly on television and film, but every so often touches on gaming, feminism, new media and more. The tone is light and the topics are random but insightful. Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy has been around for many years, but more recently teamed up with Wired.

  1. Infinite Monkey Cage

The British duo of Brian Cox and Robin Ince talk science, answer listener questions and throw in the occasional language lesson. The podcast is easy to listen to and very funny at times.

How to download the podcasts:

1. StarTalk

Step 1: Go to http://startalkradio.net/
Step 2: Scroll to the grey box with the big round play button.
Step 3: On the left of the title there is a button with an arrow and a line below it. Click this.
Step 4: Once you click the podcast should start downloading. If it doesn’t, then right click the same button and choose “Save Link As”. Then save the podcast where you can access it easily.
Step 5: To download another podcast, click on the next podcast in the list and click on the arrow with a line below it.

2. Stuff You Should Know

Step 1: Go to http://www.stuffyoushouldknow.com/podcasts/
Step 2: Choose an episode and click on it to open the post with the episode.
Step 3: The post will have the podcast titled close to the top and a big red “play” button.
Step 4: Just below the play button to the right is “Download this Episode”. Right click the same button and choose “Save Link As”. Then save the podcast where you can access it easily.
Step 5: To download another podcast you can either go back to the previous page or use the “Previous Episode” and “Next Episode” navigations above the title (left and right) to find new/more episodes.

3. Science magazine podcast

Step 1:  Go to http://www.sciencemag.org/podcasts
Step 2: Choose an episode and click on it to open the post with the episode.
Step 3: Right click on “Download MP3” below the blue play button. Now choose “Save Link As” and save the podcast where you can access it easily.
Step 4: To download another podcast you can either go back to the previous page to find more episodes.

Step 2: Choose an episode and click on it to open the post with the episode.
Step 3: Scroll down until you see the header that says “PODCAST”. It sits a little down on the left of the article.
Step 4: Right click the download button and choose “Save Link As”. Then save the podcast where you can access it easily.
