Canon Powershot SX50 HS: Capture the moment

Date:18 May 2013 Tags:, ,

Travellers wanting a camera to take great snaps regardless of the circumstances should check out Canon’s new Powershot SX50 HS. This no-fuss shooter boasts a 50x optical zoom (equal to a 1 200 mm lens on a 35 mm camera) and a 24 mm wide angle, allowing you to capture practically anything, whether it’s landscapes, close-ups of flowers or furry critters in the distance.

It features a 12,1 megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS sensor packed with features that make quality snapshots a breeze. The optical image stabiliser ensures sharp images, even if you have the shakes – a must when you’re using the zoom at its maximum setting. Intelligent flash exposure ensures subjects are never too dark or washed out. Heck, you can even shoot bursts of up to 13 frames per second. And tracking autofocus helps you keep it sharp.

Other features include a framing assist function (allowing you to re-frame lost subjects when using the zoom), face detection, red-eye correction and blink detection, as well as full HD video capture. Price: about R5 400.
