With the rise of HTML5 video and native Web apps, Adobe’s Flash browser plug-in is on its way out, and not a moment too soon. Here’s how to switch off – but not permanently delete – this buggy, insecure, resource-hungry software.
FIREFOX Download an extension called Flashblock from addons. mozilla.org, click on Install, then restart the browser.
CHROME Click on Preferences, Under the Hood, Content Settings, Manage Exceptions, and Disable Flash, then restart the browser.
IE 9 Click on Tools, Manage Add-ons, and Shockwave Flash, then select Remove All Sites.
