Yes, the company that makes everything from compact runabouts to supertankers really has gone into unpowered transport – well, except for a little human power – in the form of a tuned bobsleigh for the Korean national team. The carmaking division of the giant Hyundai conglomerate this week unveiled the bobsleigh, powered by the company’s patented N high performance technology, at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Advanced technology and engineering, combined with lightweight materials and a strong chassis are tailored to fit the body of each member of the bobsleigh team. “Lightweight materials such as carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) improve cornering and acceleration. (This combines) with a strong chassis frame to reduce friction caused by vibration,” Hyundai announced in a statement.
The N Bobsleigh is said to only be the beginning of Hyundai’s venture into the sport. The company plans to equip the team with upgraded bobsleighs for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
