NASA has released a video of what the phases of the moon looks like from the far side.
As with the side of the moon which is visible from Earth, the far side has its own complete cycle of phases, however the terrain here is somewhat different. The far side does not have the darker “spots”, known as maria, and also boasts many more craters.
The far side of the moon is also home to the South Pole-Aitken basin, one of the largest and oldest impact features in the solar system. This basin is the dark “bruise” which covers roughly the bottom third of the moon.
