If you’ve even been stumped by a tavern puzzle—those physical tests of intelligence that require moving around a few pieces of string or metal—you know how frustrating the experience can be. Most of us give up after a long bout of failure, but not everyone. This man, for instance, was perplexed by a version of the Ball Puzzle for around 10 years.
Eventually, he got so frustrated that he asked for help from a TV host and in a staged (but very entertaining) video, the pair ask a physics teacher and a magician, both of whom declare the puzzle impossible. Eventually, the solution came from Japanese Puzzle Ring Association, which specialises in this kind of puzzle. One of its members was able to execute the solution, bringing the man’s quest to an end – check out the video above. Alternatively, if you don’t have 10 minutes to spare, skip on to 07:46 to see how the puzzle is solved.
Maybe it’s not as satisfying as solving it yourself, but after 10 years you’ve got to take what you can get.
