As Lamborghini’s latest track-oriented trashtalker, the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera says a mouthful. Aside from extracting 7,5 extra kW over the base LP 560-4 – the V10 now makes 419 kW – the weight-loss regimen includes carbon-fibre replacement parts, a lightened interior, polycarbonate windows and forged aluminium wheels attached with titanium bolts. Carbon-ceramic brakes are optional. All told, the Superleggera weighs 1 471 kg, 70 fewer than the base car.

And does it ever move. Stiffer shocks, stouter antiroll bars and 90 per cent harder bushings make the Superleggera corner like a slot car. It’ll hit 100 km/h in 3,4 seconds, with a deeply satisfying wailing engine note. Lambor ghini’s e-gear automated gearbox is standard, but a gated six-speed manual can be substituted for free. We doubt, however, that buyers of this supercar exotic will fully appreciate a no-cost option.
