Fuji Heavy Industries subsidiary Subaru will unveil two concepts at the imminent Tokyo Motor Show, showcasing the brand’s advancements in automated driving systems and safety technology.

Most important is Subaru’s Viziv (Vision for Innovation) Future concept, which is actually the third iteration of previous Viziv concepts. Now in its third guise this finally looks close to production. It’s powered by a hybrid powertrain that consists of a turbopetrol engine under the bonnet mated with an electric motor on the rear axle – in a departure from the tradition symmetrical all-wheel drive system we’ve come to expect from the brand.

The other concept is the Impreza – which as you might have guessed previews the next generation of the company’s compact staple.

Information is limited, but more details will emerge from Subaru at the show later this month.
