Volvo has launched the S60 Polestar to much hurrah, as the company’s fastest production car enters the hotly contested super saloon segment.
The manufaturer recently purchased Gothenburg-based Polestar, originally a racing team with close ties to the Swedish manufacturer, with the intent of it becoming an in-house tuning division. And the first fruit of the new alliance is the new range-topping S60.
The S60 Polestar boasts a number of exterior enhancements inspired by the team’s motorsport successes, with a wide grille up front matched to a low front spoiler, model-specific alloy wheels, and large rear wing.
Under the bonnet lies a tweaked version of the firm’s turbocharged 3,0-litre T6 engine, that produces peak outputs of 258 kW at 5 250 r/min and 500 N.m of torque at 3 000 r/min. The rest of the upgrades include a stiffer Öhlins suspension system and Brembo brakes. The special alloys are wrapped in 20-inch Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber.
“This is the car that our racing driver’s drive to work,” says Polestar.
Sadly, most of the local 28-car allocation of S60 Polestar models have already been sold – so order yours now!
