When you can’t afford to wait three days for the hardware store to cut your board, you may find yourself foraging in the garden for old bricks to use as a “cutting table”. It’s worth noting that conventional trestles and workhorses tend to make large slabs of board wobbly and hard to handle.
If you are lucky enough to own a sectioned ladder, try this solution. Take out the extendable part and place it on the garage oor beside the other part. Taking into account the obvious cutting depth and the location of the ladder, place your hardboard on it and mark the cutting lines. Now that you have a long and straight support system, you can cut away with con dence. Just make sure you stay on the ladder!
