Of rusted screws, “tired” gas shocks and broken glass

Date:27 June 2014 Tags:, , , ,

When confronted with rusted screws or shafts, most people opt for penetrating oil. My suggestion: rather use brake fluid; it gets to work immediately.

Regarding a tip by another PM reader who used an “R” clip to solve the problem of “tired” gas shocks (“Denis does it his way”, March issue): I used this approach for years – until I discovered that shocks could be recharged cheaply at my local spares shop. Finally, a comment on your “Cutting edge” hint in the same issue: an excellent idea, but remember to dispose of the broken glass through a glass-fitting shop.
