This tip comes from an estate agent friend who has sold many houses. We’ve all heard about the importance of cleaning the house, making the kitchen and bathroom look attractive, and providing a “homely” smell via baked bread or scented candles, but many sellers overlook one of the more obvious factors that influence potential buyers: storage space.
We looked at this before putting our modestly proportioned and seriously cluttered house up for sale, and came up with a host of innovative solutions. We turned a broom cupboard into a mini- pantry, built shelves in the space above the entrance hall, bought a bunch of attractive boxes and other containers for loose stuff, and generally created a tidy home that looked almost minimalist. It sold to the first visitor.
