How to watch: NASA Perseverance rover launch

It’s looking likely that NASA are going to complete a successful launch of their Perseverance rover today, July 30.

Launching from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, weather conditions are expected to hold out for this historic launch. The rover has been placed on board a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket.

This is the first rover that aims to send back samples from the martian surface to be studied on Earth.

The pre-launch coverage will start at 4:00am Pacific Time, which is around 1:00pm in South Africa. The expected launch time begins from 4:50am Pacific Time which is just going 1:50 locally.
