Most of the world might still be under lockdown, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Nintendo’s latest theme park, Super Nintendo World, albeit virtually.
Nintendo initially announced the theme park two years ago, and ever since then, the world has been waiting in anticipation for when exactly the park will be opened. Now, it looks as though there is finally an answer to that burning question.
Nintendo announced the park will officially open to the public on 4 February 2020. The park is located in Osaka and will feature a number of Nintendo themed rides and attractions, including a Mario Kart theme park ride. The park will also have restaurants, shops and other experiences, all themed around your favourite Nintendo characters.
Guests that visit Super Nintendo World will also get a ‘Power-Up Band’ which they can wear on their wrist. This band will allow them to interact with the park itself by punching enemies and blocks, and collect virtual coins.
Unfortunately, South Africa is still battling the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning it’s highly unlikely that we’ll be able to enjoy Super Nintendo World up close. For those wanting to see everything the park has to offer, Nintendo has created a virtual tour that you can enjoy by clicking here.
Nintendo also released a short video on January 5, 2021, that shows everything the park has to offer, take a look at the video below.
