The rolling power cuts are anticipated to become less intense this weekend and into the following week, bringing much relief to South Africans who have endured weeks of heavy load shedding.

According to techcentral.co.za, Eskom believes that the stage-4 load shedding it will execute on Thursday between 4 p.m. and midnight will be the last of its kind for a while.

For the majority of next week power outages will run between stages 1 and 2 as more generating units return to service following the recent illegal industrial action.

The prediction for load shedding is as follows right now:

  • Thursday, 4pm to midnight – stage 4
  • Friday, 5am to midnight – stage 3
  • Saturday, 7am to 4pm – stage 1
  • Saturday, 4pm to 10pm – stage 2
  • Sunday, 4pm to 10pm – stage 2
  • Monday, 5am to 4pm – stage 1
  • Monday, 4pm to midnight – stage 2
  • Tuesday, 4pm to midnight – stage 2
  • Wednesday, 4 pm to midnight – stage 2
  • Thursday, 4pm to midnight – stage 2

Should anything alter during this time, Eskom promised to inform everyone and make any required adjustments.

“Eskom expects lower levels of load shedding to be put into place the following week as certain units start up again. This will be made official closer to the event or as significant changes take place.” according to Eskom.
