The people who bring you the annual rAge expo in Johannesburg have partnered with HP OMEN to bring you Rush – an all-new show dedicated to esports.

A variety of competitive tournaments by some of the country’s top gaming organisations will be hosted on dedicated esports stages over the course of three days. There will also be live commentary by some of South Africa’s top shoutcasters.

In a press release the company confirmed three main stages, showcasing some of the most popular competitive gaming tiles, including CS:GO, FIFA 17 and League of Legends. There will also be a Street Fighter V tournament where both casual and professional gamers can compete.

“Rush aims to provide a neutral and inclusive platform for all the local esports organisations to host their respective events under one roof,” says Lauren Das Neves, marketing manager for Rush, NAG and rAge.“We want to foster an environment that will not only benefit local tournament hosts, but encourage new esports talent, as well as provide a centre of activity where local esports fans can gather to interact with and support their favourite teams and players. Rush is not another rAge, it’s something completely different”.

There show also has a lot for visitors to do: “Not only will visitors be able to see and experience all the esports action live, they will also be able to meet their favourite players and teams as well as purchase merchandise, hardware products and accessories in the retail section.”

There’s a lot up for grabs at Rush

Go to Prague: “We will be sponsoring a trip to Prague this October for the winning team of the Rush HP OMEN League of Legends Challenge,” said David. The event in Prague will take place on 19 October. Here the winning local team will compete against teams from across the globe.

A prize of R20 000: Another big win at RUSH comes from one of the event’s active partners, Orena. As part of Orena’s Fight Night Season, competitors in the casual Street Fighter V tournament at RUSH also stand a chance to win R20,000 in October.
