The Sanzhi pod houses, also known as Sanzhi UFO houses, was an abandoned set of odd-shaped buildings in the Sanzhi District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. The buildings resembled Futuro houses: round, prefabricated houses that were designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen between the mid 1960’s and 1970’s. Other examples of Futuro houses can be found in other parts of the world, like New Zealand and Sweden.

The Sanzhi pod houses in Taiwan were intended to be part of a holiday resort marketed towards US Navy officers. Sadly, an slew of accidental deaths during the project’s devel0pment made investors pull their funding causing the project to become stagnant and eventually abandoned. Eventually, in 2010, the houses were torn down in preparation for a new resort project to be built on the property.
