The mysterious metal monolith discovered in the Utah desert has seemingly disappeared as quickly as it was discovered.
The monolith was reported missing by the Utah Bureau of Land Management, who wrote in a Facebook post that they had “received credible reports that the illegally installed structure, referred to as the “monolith” has been removed from Bureau of Land Management (BLM) public lands by an unknown party.” This comes after the structure received an unprecedented amount of local and international attention.
As can be expected, the sudden disappearance of the monolith caused social media users to go into a frenzy with conspiracy theories of what could have happened to the mysterious structure.
The enigmatic “Utah monolith” is suddenly gone. Removed by the artist, by a souvenir collector, or…?

If that metal monolith in the Utah desert was not left and then disappeared by aliens, 2020 did not fully deliver.

The metal monolith was first discovered during a helicopter survey of bighorn sheep region in southeastern Utah by a crew from the Utah Department of Public Safety and Division of Wildlife Resources. Upon landing at the site, the crew found the object to be between 3 and 3.5 meters tall, but no signs of who could have put it there and why it was placed amongst the Mars-like landscape of Utah’s desert.
The Utah Bureau of Land Management has said they will not be investigating the missing monolith because the structure went missing on private property. The case will now be investigated by the local sheriff’s office.
