Rumours that Apple would be holding an event this month were confirmed when the tech giant sent out invitations for its “show time” event on March 25th.
Apple’s invitations don’t usually give away any information as to what might be happening at the event and this one is no different, but the countdown and the “It’s show time” tag line appears to indicate that the event is TV related.
According to John Paczkowski, this same tag line was used 13 years ago when Apple unveiled the precursor to Apple TV:

Along with the new TV service – which could rival Netflix and Amazon prime Video – we’re also expecting to see Apple’s new news subscription service whihc is set to offer a Netflix stylee “all you can eat” bundle for newspaper and magazine subscriptions.
Apple might also show off revamped AirPods (which could include many of the features in Samsung’s Galaxy Buds), a new entry-level iPad which has a 3.5mm headphone jack and Fingerpirnt ID as well as the much delayed AirPower wireless charging mat.
Tune in to apple.com at 7pm SAST on 25 March to see what Apple has in store for us.
