Boston Dynamics’ Atlas Can Now Chase You Up the Stairs

Boston Dynamics Atlas robot can now add Parkour to its already impressive slate of jarring tricks.

The company released a video on Thursday showing the humanoid traversing an obstacle course, leaping over a thick log and then jumping onto three separate wooden platforms. It’s an indication that Atlas can now chase you up some stairs in addition to performing gymnast-level backflips.

Atlas has come a long way since the company first debuted its ability to march through the woods like the humanoid answer to Big Foot. The 40-cm tall platforms are easily navigated, as the company notes in the video that Atlas uses “computer vision to locate itself with respect to visible markers on the approach to hit the terrain accurately.”

What the company has created to compliment its door-opening dog bot, is probably the closest thing to a robotic super soldier we’ve seen.
