Sony’s latest Bravia W850B Full HD TV line-up delivers the goods in more ways than one. Apart from incorporating the company’s acclaimed X-Reality PRO processing engine to reproduce amazing detail during playback, they also boast a new structure, “Wedge” – a form factor designed to increase stability in an era when screen size continues to increase. Basically, by lowering the TV’s centre of gravity, Sony was able to achieve a smaller pedestal size than conventional TVs, allowing for a wide range of installation options, despite a large screen footprint.
The wedge shape has another advantage: its increased capacity means that larger speakers can be fitted to provide deeper, more powerful sound. ClearAudio+, which combines a variety of the company’s proprietary audio digital processing technologies, is included to enhance sound even further.
The series also introduces One-Flick Entertainment, allowing users to quickly select and enjoy content, including digital hi-vision broadcasting, Blu-ray disc and network contents. Heck, it can even mirror what’s on your smartphone screen. Price: about R40 000 for the 70-inch (177-cm) model and around R30 000 for the 60-inch (152-cm) version.
