Neuralink is a brain interface designed to help those who suffer from serious brain injuries. In 2019, the world got its first look at the progress of the device at a launch event. During the event we learned that a “sewing machine” robot would plant thread-like electrodes deep in to the human brain, according to Engadet.
The electrodes are then connected to a pod located behind the ear, which allows the device to transmit brain signals over Bluetooth, allowing patients to control a computer or have their brain activity monitored.
Neuralink’s main aim is to help amputees or those who suffer from brain damage to see, talk, and listen as if they don’t have a disability at all. The company have not confirmed any human testing, but the device has been tested on primates, with Musk going on record as saying “a monkey has been able to control a computer with its brain.”
