It’s no secret that Facebook loves to adopt ideas from other social media platforms and claim them as their own. Now, it looks like Facebook has set its sights on Clubhouse, and is looking to create its very own version of the platform.
For those unaware, Clubhouse is a social media platform that connects users through audio-only. It was started last year and operates on an invite-only basis and has quickly grown in popularity thanks to guests like Oprah, Ashton Kutcher, Drake, and Elon Musk. Clubhouse also has a relaxed approach towards content moderation, meaning controversial topics are often discussed on the platform, which is a draw for many users.
According to reports from The New York Times, who spoke to sources “with knowledge of the matter”, Facebook is now looking to “expand into new forms of communication”, which essentially means the platform wants to expand upon its audio options.
Facebook executives have reportedly ordered employees to create a product similar to that of Clubhouse. This comes less than a week after Facebook’s very own CEO Mark Zuckerberg made a guest appearance on Clubhouse.

Development of the new social media platform is however still in its infancy, meaning you likely won’t see its release anytime soon.
