Senior Associate Editor Lindsey Schutters went out to the Canal Walk iStore on the local launch day to get hands-on with Apple’s latest iPhone – the iPhone X – and talk to the first Cape Town customer.
The iPhone X (ten) changes the iconic design to accommodate that all-new 5,8-inch OLED display, introducing the controversial notch at the top of the screen that houses all the new Face ID technology as well as the earpiece/front-facing speaker. The internals are the same Apple-designed A11 Bionic chipset with built-in neural processor hardware found in the iPhone 8 Plus with only the rear dual camera unit flipping vertical and gaining OIS on the now widened f/2.4 telephoto lens. The Face ID tech also enables Portrait Mode on the front-facing camera as well as Apple’s new animated Animoji.
Pricing is R20 500 for the 64GB variant and climbs to R24 000 if you want the 256GB storage option.
