Huawei’s new powerhouse – the Mate 20 Pro – is now available for pre-order in South Africa at a recommended retail price of R18 999 – the same launch price as the Galaxy Note 9 – it undercuts the R21 999 pricetag of the iPhone XS.
The handset boasts many firsts including the first handset from a major OEM to have an under-display fingerprint scanner as well as the first with 15W wireless charging, 40W SuperCharge and the first with Wireless Reverse Charge.
It also includes the latest generation Leica triple lens camera setup – this time with an ultra wide angle lens instead of a monochrome one – a 6.39-inch OLED display and Huawei’s version of Face ID.
I’ve raved about how great the Mate 20 Pro is – and while it’s not perfect (EMUI 9 is still not quite perfect, but it’s better than its predecessors) it’s the closest to a perfect phone you’ll get right now.
Let’s be honest though, the thing you’re most interested to know is just how good the camera is.
Here are a few photos I took in London last week at the global Mate 20 Pro launch:
