• Leaked images show the PS5 could be customisable

Sony’s latest addition to its console family, the PS5, has been shrouded in mystery ever since it was announced. However, a new leak made on the A9VG forum may have given us a glimpse at what to expect from the new console, which includes the option to customise it after it has been purchased.

In the post made to the A9VG forum, you can see images of the outer shell pieces detached from the console. What makes these images interesting is that the inside of the shells don’t appear to have any screw fittings, leading many to speculate that the faceplates of the PS5 can be easily removed and swapped with another faceplate in a different colour.

Aside from being able to swap and change the different faceplates, it could also point to the possibility of Sony introducing cheaper custom and special edition PS5 consoles. Meaning Sony could release a special edition PS5, in one to two years’ time, but instead of having to purchase an entirely new console, the customer could simply purchase a new faceplate.

This leak might hold some weight, as Sony’s Head of Marketing, Eric Lempel, appeared to hint at the possibility of the company making custom and special edition console designs in the future during an interview with Canadian video game journalist Geoff Keighley.
