Pornhub makes immersive technology breakthrough

Adult entertainment platform Pornhub has made a major breakthrough in immersive technology: integrating adult devices with video entertainment. This gives the platform’s users the ability to experience what they’re watching.

The company yesterday announced the introduction of immersive technology to their platform that integrates users’ home devices with video content. Each video within the new interactive category is overlain with synchronised pulses that mimics tactile sensations and transmits it to the user’s device.

This technology built specifically for remote sexual experiences, is known as teledildonics or cyberdildonics. Currently there are a number of patents around this technology pending, with a number of companies actively developing it since as early as 2004.

“Immersive technology is the next frontier in the adult entertainment industry. Over the course of the past year alone immersive technologies, particularly teledildonics, have quickly taken the industry by storm and garnered critical acclaim for their ability to provide users with something that teeters on reality,” said Corey Price, Vice President, Pornhub.

For the initial launch the company will focus on male interactive experiences and have partnered with adult device manufacturers Fleshlight and Kiiroo. And they haven’t forgotten about the ladies. Pornhub says content for female experiences will be included in the near future, and they confirmed partnership with companies like OhMiBod and WeVibe that manufacture devices for the female market.

In recent years Pornhub has made strides with newly released technologies by integrating with their platform from the get-go. The company was one of the first to offer on-demand virtual experiences to the public and is also one of the first to make use of immersive technology.
