Samsung officially launched its new and improved foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
The foldable phone will soon be available in South Africa and is a major step up from the first iteration, which was not popular.
With two edge-to-edge Infinity-O displays, the phone can operate as a single screen, full double screen or split screen depending on how you’d like to use it. It’s also intuitive and will change screen views depending on how you’ve opened it.
A major issue with the previous version were the hinges, which were identified as being weak and easily harmed by lifestyle factors such as dust. On the new phone, the hinges are much more durable and resistant to particles which could degrade it.
The 5G capability is a plus, as South Africa is slowly moving towards better 5G networks.
For those who use their smartphone to take photos, the phone has a rear triple-camera system with three 12MP cameras. It also has a front-facing 10MP. The second screen can also be used to show a person you’re taking a photo of how the picture is looking while you take it.
It has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage which is usually more than enough space.
The phone also comes with a Premium Customer Service package, so should you have trouble or need assistance, Samsung have set up a dedicated desk just for the Galaxy Z Fold clients.
This premium phone will be available for pre-order from 7 September and available across the country from 25 September. It is priced at R49,999.
