Singaporean robot scolds joggers into social distancing

The rule of social distancing is of utmost importance in the fight against the coronavirus. Unfortunately, there are a minority of people that choose not to follow this rule.

To enforce this important rule, the Singaporean Government have turned to a self-driving autonomous vehicle called the O-R3 that politely reminds park-goers to keep the social distancing rules in mind while they’re out and about.

As you can see in the video below, O-R3 autonomously rides around a park while blaring “To curb the spread of Covid-19, gatherings at this park are not allowed. Please practise safe distancing at all times and do not loiter at this park. Stay safe, stay home,” over its loud speakers.

O-R3 was created by Otsaw, a robotics company with offices in Singapore and California and was originally used by the PUB water agency to survey plants and reservoirs, but its appears as though they’ve found a new use for their autonomous robot.

Along with reminding people to keep a safe distance from one another, park-goers can report any suspicious activity through the robot which will contact the police for assistance in real-time.
