Take the scenic route, or not
Whether you’re in need of a therapeutic bike ride through our scenic hinterland or an adrenaline-pumping blast to get rid of the cobwebs, TomTom’s Rider may be exactly what you need (that is, aside from a bike). In essence, this useful gadget – reportedly inspired by feedback from the biking community – offers you the ability to create a personalised route, from the fastest to the most scenic.
It employs Bluetooth to feed audio instructions directly to your helmet, allowing you to concentrate on the road ahead. The 10,9 cm “glove-friendly” screen responds instantly to your touch and is designed to work in all weather conditions, including rain or bright sunshine. Features include free lifetime maps, a charging dock activated by your bike’s ignition, a function that allows you to share routes with other riders via Bluetooth, and the ability to add personalised points of interest.
