Travel with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera

Lugging a bulky DSLR system around while on your travels can be a pain, even for the pros. Olympus’s new OM-D E-M1 Micro Four Thirds camera body lets you capture quality stills and video, but without the bulk or excessive weight.

Its Dual fast AF system delivers impressive autofocus performance with both Micro Four Thirds and Four Thirds lenses, which can be mounted to the camera via an adaptor. The camera detects which sort of lens you’ve connected and switches automatically to the more suitable AF technology, either phase detection or contrast AF.

Hybrid 5-axis image stabilisation compensates for movement around the axis of the lens as well as horizontal and vertical shift – so it’s noticeably easier to capture sharp, hand-held stills, especially at large zoom ratios. In fact, the Hybrid IS is said to be so effective that you can record a shake-free Full HD movie literally on the run.

Integrated Wi-Fi lets you pair it with a compatible smartphone and use it as a remote control to operate the camera. Just as impressive is its rigid magnesium body that is said to help make it dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof.

Prices start at R20 000 for the body only and go up to R28 000 for the kit including the new M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 12 – 40 mm f2.8 lens.  Contact Tudortech on 021-424 2978 or visit
