One of the biggest pains on WhatsApp is being added to a group you can’t leave but don’t want to be harassed by either. It appears the app developers acknowledge this and are working on a “Mute Always” feature.
According to WABetainfo, this Mute Always option will replace the “mute for 1 year” option currently seen on the app.

Although not currently available, the feature is part of the 2.20.197.3 beta update and is labelled as “under development.”
Another development that appears to be in the works is expiring messages. While this has been mentioned before, with WhatsApp developing messages which will disappear after a certain amount of time, it appears they are tweaking these setting options.
These messages will be removed without a trace after 7 days, according to the new beta update.
It seems users can decide whether they have expiring messages on or not.
