WhatsApp has finally rolled out the much anticipated fingerprint unlock feature for Android users months after iPhone users received it. WhatsApp took to their Blog to announce that the safety feature was available to everyone using an Android device.
The feature gives users the ability to lock all chats and notifications behind a lock screen that can only be unlocked using your fingerprint. The feature is available for all Android devices using the latest version of WhatsApp (Version 2.19.308) and works with physical fingerprint scanners as well as in-display scanners.
How to enable fingerprint unlock on android.
1. Open WhatsApp.
2. Go to the settings>Account Privacy> Fingerprint Toggle
3. Turn on the unlock with fingerprint toggle.
iPhone X and above users also have access to this safety feature, the only difference being it uses Face ID to unlock WhatsApp instead of a fingerprint.
How to enable Face unlock on iOS
1. Open WhatsApp
2. Got to settings>account>Privacy>screen lock
3. Turn on ‘require face ID’ toggle
