Xiaomi, one of China’s biggest smartphone manufactures, has unveiled its latest concept smartphone which features a curved display that overflows over all four sides of the phone. Almost the entire frame of the smartphone is covered by its screen, while the body of the device carries no ports or buttons, bringing forward the futuristic ‘unibody no-port design’.

The biggest challenge Xiaomi faced when producing the industry’s ‘first quad-curved waterfall screen’ was not in bending the display, but rather manufacturing a completely new 88° quad-curved glass panel.
Developing the unique quad-curved glass was no easy feat, as it required the company to create self-developed glass processing equipment and ‘hot bending’ under 800°C high temperature and pressure.
This revolutionary design ensures that almost all sides of the phone are covered by the display. Thanks to 46 self-developed patented technologies, physical ports and buttons can now have their functions replicated by more elegant alternatives.
Along with its one-of-a-kind display, the concept smartphone also features third-generation under-display cameras, wireless charging, pressure-sensitive touch sensors, and display acoustic technology, which uses the surface of the screen to deliver sound.
