Just several weeks ago, Kevin Schöpfer launched his eponymous yacht design company in the US with the express purpose of advancing yacht aesthetics and technology. Schöpfer Yachts is a forerunner among a new breed of companies seeking to secure strategic alliances with the world’s foremost naval architects and shipyards.
Their first venture was a formidably sexy cruising yacht called , designed in collaboration with naval architects Sparkman and Stephens. The 76 m-long vessel will accommodate 12 guests in extraordinary comfort and style, transporting them long distances at speeds in excess of 25 knots. According to its designers, the vessel’s exterior styling is representative of the jaw and eye socket bone structure of large oceanic fish and mammals.
Featuring a dramatic reverse bow configuration, its “low rider” profile allows for new side recreational areas, alternative dock access and light cruising openness. Lateral retractable side panels close off this area when the sea gets rough. Inside, the emphasis is on sumptuous modernity, with a 3,6 m-high ceiling in the main salon, a cylindrical, double-height dining room, a central staircase and a tube enclosing a lift.
The second level is dedicated to the owner’s suite, its extravagantly luxurious living areas and bedchambers divided by four freestanding tubes that house bath and storage necessities. Another staircase connects to the third-level private salon and deck with water feature. This level also accommodates the forward pilot house and separate captain’s quarters.
