Travis Pastrana, professional stunt performer and World Rally Championship driver has built quite the following on YouTube for taking fast cars and making them even faster. His latest creation is no different.
Working in conjunction with Subaru, Pastrana and the Japanese car maker teamed up to create a one-off version of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI, a vehicle which Subaru described as the most outrageous WRX STI ever made. The custom STI will feature in the next episode of Hoonigan’s Gymkhana video series.
The custom STI features a carbon body with a wildly aggressive and wind tunnel-proven aero package. It also has a custom-made Subaru boxer engine, flame-spitting hood exit exhaust, long travel suspension, and a race-ready interior built to Pastrana’s specs, according to Subaru.
“This STI is unbelievable!” said Pastrana. “We’ve never had the opportunity to do this before, to build a car with no restrictions. Engine, suspension, aero—everything is unlimited, clean sheet. It’s crazy fast, easy to control and get sideways and it was perfect out of the box in testing. Gymkhana is a new challenge for me but I want to raise the bar, and this is the car to do it.”
