Tailored to fit
Subaru’s plan for its 2013 Legacy revolved around enhancing all areas of performance, from design to fuel efficiency, drivability and safety. Fuji Heavy Industries has implemented more extensive modifications than just a facelift (although there are styling revisions for China). Externally, the body is 6 cm higher and 4 cm wider, with 18-inch wheels. Under the bonnet, low- to mid-range torque has been boosted by adopting the new-generation Boxer engine and the second-generation Lineartronic CVT first used in the Impreza. That has helped improve both fuelefficiency and engine output. Suspension revisions were aimed at improving refinement, with revised damper and spring rates and reinforcement of the vehicle body structure.
The Legacy’s already excellent crash worthiness has been enhanced thanks to a bumper beam reinforcement and driver knee airbag. In addition to that, the Vehicle Dynamics Control gets a new control system.
