BMW’s first EV, the i3, will go on sale in Europe in November at a base price of €34 950 (about R450 000).
The i3 will be launched simultaneously in London, New York and Beijing on the 29th of July.
Planet-friendly technologies ranging from E-drive to innovative materials underpin the i3 design.
Besides heralding a completely new drivetrain system for the company, the i3 also pioneers a whole new way of doing business. Its multi-channel sales model comprises authorised “i partners”, a Customer Interaction Centre (is this the same thing as a dealership?) an online platform and, in some markets, a mobile sales force.
BMW’s i infrastructure includes charging at home and public facilities, assistance and mobility services and flexible car-sharing.
