The BMW i3 – the company’s first electric vehicle – made an appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013.
BMW eDrive is an innovative new development in the scope of the BMW EfficientDynamics technology. The i3’s electric motor – providing 125 kW with a torque of 250 N.m. – in conjunction with the lithium-ion high-voltage battery and intelligent energy management, provides driving enjoyment and efficiency in every situation.
Weighing just 1,195 kilograms, the i3 offers a range of 130–160 kilometres in city traffic.
The BMW i3 has impressive acceleration values: it accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h in under 4 seconds and to 100 km/h in only 7,2 seconds. Equally impressive is the nearly silent driving experience.
The i3 goes on sale in Europe in November at a base price of €34 950 (about R450 000).
