Having reintroduced the Transit badge to South Africa in an urban environment, Ford has taken to the country to launch the full-sized version of this popular Euro-style van.
A year ago, Ford launched the smaller version of the Transit – the Custom – in and around Gauteng. This year, the annual NAMPO show in the Free State, the southern hemisphere’s biggest agricultural show, will provide the backdrop for the coming out of the Custom’s big brother. How big? The Transit’s stowage capacity is a huge 13 790 litres, with a high load area that’s 207 cm high. It will be available in three configurations: bus, panel van and chassis cab for customising. All versions of the Transit will be powered by the 2,2-litre Duratorq engine, also used by the Custom.
